Sergio Turull is an ultra-distance runner who takes on extreme challenges, which he shares on his social media. One of his most famous was last summer, crossing Spain from one end to the other (from Tarifa to Cap de Creus), a total of 1,500 kilometers in 23 days , covering 65 kilometers per day.
With this challenge, Sergio raised 58,000 euros for the fight against childhood cancer, all of which went to Juegaterapia, a foundation. Furthermore, eight years ago, he created Kenia Running Camp , a five-day camp in Iten, the birthplace of athletics, where participants train with local athletes, participate in motivational talks, and immerse themselves in African culture.
A few months ago, he was interviewed by Uri Sabat on the podcast The Formula for Success . They talked about the challenge of crossing Spain from one end to the other, and the interviewer was interested in his sleep routine. “For me, it's vital . In fact, I get a lot of messages from people asking me or advising me, 'Go out at 5:00 in the morning, it'll be less hot and you'll have more time to run without the heat,' and I tell them that my priority is to get eight hours of sleep. Because of my routine, I'm used to going to sleep around 11:00 PM, so I know that at 7:00 AM I can get up to start running at 8:00-8:30 AM,” Turull explained.
The presenter asked him if he went running on an empty stomach : “ I'm going out on an empty stomach almost every day because I have a big dinner. I eat like two or three adults, no exaggeration. I've even had a pizza with a hamburger and fries, with dessert. Yesterday I had a one-kilo cachopo with fries and other cheddar fries on the side, plus dessert. I'm really hungry, so during the day I eat sandwiches, crackers, and more snacks to get by,” the athlete commented.
